The Community Development Camp of the Hellenic Guiding Corps (SEO) that took place in Kythera from July 26 to August 6, 2024 was a great success. This camp offered young people the opportunity to participate in volunteer activities, contributing substantially to the local community and the natural environment of Kythera.
The participants, young people from different regions of Greece, worked with enthusiasm and dedication in a series of actions designed to improve the local community. Specifically, the actions included the creation of a creative activity area for the children of Agia Pelagia, the opening and marking of mountain paths, the occupation of elderly guests at the Kythera Nursing Home, and the landscaping of natural landscapes in various settlements such as Mylopotamos, Fratsia and Kapsali.
One of the most important actions of the camp was the creation of a mural in the outdoor area of the Municipal Library in Agios Ilias, while the end of the camp was celebrated with a theatrical performance in Fratsia, organized with the help of the scriptwriter Mirella Papakonomou.
The contribution of the Municipality of Kythera and the local associations was crucial for the success of the camp, offering valuable support and cooperation at every stage of the activities. The camp not only provided an opportunity for social contribution, but also served as a platform for the development of personal skills for the participants, encouraging teamwork, solidarity and friendship.
The Hellenic Guiding Corps expresses its sincere thanks to all the organizations and volunteers who contributed to the success of this camp and hopes for future cooperation for even more opportunities for social offer and development.
