Aiming at strengthening agricultural production and promoting local identity through storytelling and cooperation, MedINA's new project entitled «Small Farm to Market II» brings to the forefront Lemnos and Kythera as models of communities that can transform their agri-food heritage into sustainable and authentic experiences for visitors and residents alike.
The project is the natural continuation of a successful initiative that started in 2024, and is now expanding with actions that will culminate in October with a physical presence in Lemnos. Producers, catering and hospitality professionals, as well as local communities are invited to co-create experiences that will go beyond the narrow boundaries of the tourism product, emphasizing the relationship of people with the place and its products.
The initiative is supported by the Ioannis S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and aspires to become a benchmark for a new model of local development based on collectivity, history and taste.
Here is the press release:

Small Farm to Market II:
Lemnos and Kythera at the heart of agri-food experiences
Athens, 21 July 2025 - The new MedINA project «Small Farm to Market II» is already underway, following on from the successful project Small Farm to Market implemented last year. The project aims at the multifaceted empowerment of rural communities in Lemnos and Kythera and the promotion of the local agri-food identity of Lemnos through collective action and the power of storytelling.
As part of the project, an online information event was held entitled: «Flavours, Place, Stories: Creating Agri-Food Experiences in Lemnos», which marked the launch of the new action, which will be implemented with physical presence in October in Lemnos.
The initiative invites producers, catering, hospitality and tourism professionals to join forces, inspire and co-create experiences that go beyond the narrow definition of a tourism product. The aim is to showcase the place through its everyday life, its products and - above all - its people.
Based on a participatory approach, the action encourages knowledge sharing, collaboration and co-creation of authentic experiences, with storytelling as a key element. Visitors will not just experience a tour, but will come into meaningful contact with Lemnos through memories and traditions.
With the communities of Lemnos and Kythera playing a leading role, the project «Small Farm to Market II» opens a new creative path, where the stories of the place are united with its flavours and all participants become both narrators and protagonists.
«Small Farm to Market II» is implemented with the support of of the Ioannis S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
