“Amid these difficult circumstances, where the health insecurity and financial pressure is becoming a very serious issue for most households; the government rules out approximately 440,000 registered long-term unemployed from the special subsidy for 400 euros that he announced.
With this decision, it appears to be indifferent to:
– the a loss of 1.3 billion euros in labor income during the first lockdown
– the a €4 billion decrease in the disposable income of all households, in recent months
– an average wage decrease of 10%
– the pay of just 200 euros for the 12% employees
It also ignores the generally more adverse conditions that have taken shape in the economy as a whole, with the result that families supporting the long-term unemployed are being affected in many ways.
This decision must be changed immediately. All registered unemployed individuals should receive benefits, without exception. No one remains on the unemployment registry OAED without needing to.
The government must also consider the proposal by SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance to provide emergency income to those who have been financially affected by the pandemic (400 euros for the first adult member of the household, 200 euros for each additional adult member, and 100 euros for each child).”
