Petty crook Nick Bianco is arrested during a jewelry store robbery. Despite the prosecutor’s persistent pressure to turn in his accomplices who had escaped, he refuses and ends up in prison. There, however, he learns that his wife has committed suicide after falling into a depression. Nick then decides to give the authorities the names of his accomplices in exchange for his conditional release. He remarries and rebuilds his life, until he learns that one of his former associates—the psychopath Tommy Ado —who “ratted him out” to the police—is free again and seeking revenge on Nick.
