Russia: we can give the European Union 100 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine

This development comes in the wake of the war that has broken out between the EU and AstraZeneca over the supply of vaccines.

In the aftermath of the war European Union - AstraZeneca, the Russia proposes to send 100 million doses of the vaccine Sputnik V, an amount sufficient to vaccinate 50 million European citizens in the second quarter of 2021. This was revealed in a post on twitter, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

According to European media, AstraZeneca is unable to deliver the 80 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19, which was expected in the first quarter of the year. Following this development, the European Union has ordered inspections of the company's factories and has also proceeded to seize documents from the company, calling on the latter to make the contract between them public in order to make the agreement known.

According to Ursula von der Leyen, the European Union intends to make public on Friday 29/01/21 the vaccine it has signed with AstraZeneca to combat coronavirus.

Documents seized from AstraZeneca plant

Η European Commission has asked the Belgian authorities to carry out an investigation at one of AstraZeneca's plants in the country where the new coronavirus vaccine is manufactured. During the inspection, documents were seized, which are now under review, a spokesman for Belgium's Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAGG) told the French Press Agency on Thursday, January 28.

The plant in question is located in Senev, in French-speaking southern Belgium. It is operated by the American group Thermo Fischer Scientific, which was just taken over in mid-January by the French group, which specialises in the pharmaceutical industry, the Novasep. The Belgian regulator initially assured that it is still a Novasep plant.

The inspection and examination of the data collected on the spot are aimed at «ensuring that the delay in vaccine administration is indeed due to a production problem at the Belgian factory», a subcontractor of AstraZeneca, the Belgian health minister stressed, Frank Vandenbrückke.
