Rena Durou: «The government is accountable for democratic diversion, Novartis is a scandal»

«To turn off the microphone in Parliament because a Member of Parliament raises issues to which the government does not respond, without threatening or insulting as Mr Georgiades did when he called Alexis Tsipras a bum, which was not an issue at the time, is a serious problem», said, among others, Rena Dourou on Status Fm 107.7 radio - «In the name of the pandemic, the direct assignments have exploded», she added.

«The government is accountable for democratic diversion. And this is not an oppositional statement but the expression of a deep concern for a sacred cause, the defence of democracy», observed among others, the Rena Dourou, member of the Political Council of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, responsible for Climate Crisis, Environment and Energy, speaking on Tuesday, 01/02, on radio Status Fm 107,7 to journalists Dimitris Venieris and Virginia Dimaressi. «Mr. Polakis is fighting the battle to make the major issues heard, Novartis is a scandal», he said.

Deploring the censorship of Paul Polakis in Parliament by the President Charalambos Athanasiou, he said: «Not hastily but the House of Representatives arbitrarily closed yesterday when the representative of SYRIZA-P.S. Mr. Polakis took the podium, and the chairman turned off the microphone, not because he was defaming the institutions, not because he was insulting or ugly, but because, unlike the previous speaker, he was saying that Novartis is a real scandal.».

«Novartis came to our country, bribed ordinary doctors on its own, the US and the FBI are discovering a scandal, and we have reached 2022 and our problem is why P. Polakis, in his own way, insists on saying that we will discuss this scandal and we do not discuss the fact that journalists who insisted on seeking the truth about this scandal are being prosecuted for criminal activity,» he observed, adding that «shutting down the microphone in Parliament because a Member of Parliament raises issues to which the government does not respond, without threatening or insulting as Mr Georgiades did when he called Alexis Tsipras a bum, which was not an issue at the time, is a serious problem».

She stressed that «as of this morning, neither the issues of the health crisis nor the issues of the health crisis, nor the issue of the price tag, for which there are proposals being implemented by other, Christian Democratic governments, nor the heating oil, nor the changes in the institutional framework for extreme weather phenomena, are in the foreground.».

«The government is consistent in its agenda, it doesn't believe in the NHS, it doesn't believe in public education because it gives everything to the private sector», she said.

«From my experience in managing millions of euros in the Attica Region, I believe that the question is what the elected official does. That is, if he opens the door to the contractor at the expense of public money and rights in a rule of law where public health and public health are sacred, »observed Rena Dourou.

Key points of the interview of R. Dourou

  • Mitsotakis called journalists an underworld and a gang when 12 journalists' associations, including Reporters Without Borders, the European Federation of Journalists, the Index on Censorship, deplore the persecution of journalists in our country.
  • We have government ministers who are Pattakos and others have dedicated sweet notes to them.
  • The people's courts were made in my face by the Right.
  • At the same time that the members of the New Democracy party are exploiting the national tragedies, Mr Mitsotakis speaks from the UN podium about the climate change, while the government does nothing to prevent its consequences!
  • In the debate on the motion of censure in the Parliament, all the members of the Southwest were anxious that the third SYRIZA-P.S. and were giving advice on how to maintain second place.
  • The deficits will not be caused by cutting special taxes or raising the minimum wage but by the direct assignments that have been ejected in the name of addressing pandemic.
  • The government is not taking measures against the problem of poverty not because it is incompetent but because it has another agenda that anyone who had not covered his ears with the bullhorn of anti-Syriza hysteria during the pre-election period could hear.
  • We cannot compare 14-19, when we had priority to get out of the memorandum, with 19-22, when the government found 37 billion in the public coffers.
  • We are consistent with the problems of the world and not with the polls.
  • For the first time since 1974 in our country a party is promoting the 50% - 50% for men and women while abroad this is a given.
  • No one has any ambition to replace Alexis Tsipras, not because of some anti-democratic fear but because we really see in him a man who expresses in a modern way the left-wing democratic party in the country.
