Prosecutor's Intervention was caused by the use of police force in Nea Smyrni, with the aim of investigating the possibility that police officers committed criminal acts. The head of the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, Sotiria Papageorgakopoulou, ordered the conducting a preliminary examination on the occasion of videos and complaints that were made public regarding use of force by police officers against civilians, on Sunday at noon, in Nea Smyrni Square, as part of inspections to ensure compliance with COVID-19 measures.
