The residents of the settlement are in a state of intense indignation Kalamos in Kythera, according to an official complaint that was made public through the «Free Kythera» faction. The complaint, which was forwarded through the newly established «Citizen's Line», describes a chaotic situation caused by the ongoing work on the sewage project in the area.
The faction «Free Kythira», on the occasion of the incident, launched a fierce attack against the Municipal Authority of Efstratios Harhalakis, referring to:
Organisational inadequacy and indifference to the quality of life of the residents.
Abandonment of services of the Municipality on «autopilot» and the diligence of the employees.
Political expediency, accusing the administration of being preoccupied with «personal safeguards for the next day» instead of the problems of the country.
The following is the press release of the party:

Although we have repeatedly referred to the indifference shown by the municipal authority towards the daily life and quality of life of the island's permanent residents, today we choose to give voice to the indignation of one of our fellow citizens.
A citizen who comes to us not out of confrontation, but out of necessity. Out of the need to be heard. With his permission, we quote in full the text he sent us 24 hours earlier today:
«Good evening, I would like to inform you that since this morning, due to the sewerage project and the works being carried out, Kalamos has no water. The water was cut off without warning, we do not know if it is due to damage or damage, and also when it will be restored. No one has been found to inform residents if and when we will have water again. Also with the start of the works the main village road was closed and we residents were asked to pass through side roads that are at the very least unsuitable for a conventional car. No one had the foresight to bring in any machinery to even attempt to straighten these side roads so that we and our vehicles could be safe. Unfortunately we are a village that has been inconvenienced enough with travel due to the works and clearly we are never informed of the road we need to take to do the simplest thing, get to our jobs. I personally expect nothing from the municipality, it has proven its inadequacy many times but at least it is important to have a means of recording any problems we encounter.Thank you very much»
Our position
This text is not an isolated protest. It is an expression of a reality that we all experience and recognise every day.
The municipal authority, being fully aware of its own technical and organizational incompetence, has consciously abandoned the services of the Municipality to the automaton, to the philanthropy of the employees and is concerned with personal safeguards for the next day.
Because this day is not far off, we invite you all to actively participate in the public sphere. The renunciation of the basic quality of life will not become the norm. We live in a paradise, let no adventurer convince us that we do not deserve it.
For us, quality of life in our settlements is not a slogan, it is a top priority. It is a commitment to the people of our place and it is about actions, not words.
