Michalis Megalokonomos, who passed away a few days ago, was a veteran member of the Philharmonic Band, of which he had been a member since its inception in 1964 and in which he participated enthusiastically until a year and a half ago, when the pandemic prevented him from continuing. Michalis was also a quintessential representative of the old-school Tsirigotis–Potamitis generation, who loved culture and the arts. A great lover of music—through which he could best connect with people—he played the trumpet, accordion, and percussion. A scion of a historic family from Potamos, he never missed an opportunity to make a political statement when needed to support his view on what was best for the community of hisWe will always remember him. The musical performance in Chora Square on Wednesday, August 18, was dedicated to him.
His funeral will be held on Friday, August 20, at 11 a.m. in Potamos.
