Piraeus: Presentation of the anniversary volume «Kythera in the 1821 Revolution»

An important anniversary event for the Greek Revolution is organized by the Kythira Brotherhood of Piraeus – Athens, on the occasion of the presentation of the book «Kythera in the Revolution of 1821». It is an anniversary volume published by the Society of Kytheraic Studies for the 200 years of the National Palingenesis, under the editorship of Kaitis Aroni-Gum.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday 31 March 2026 and time 19:00 in Piraeus, on the street 7 Navarinou Street (3rd floor).

Distinguished academics and scientists will speak about the content and historical significance of the book:

  • Dimitris Malessis, professor at the Military School of Evelpidon.
  • Stavroula Ktistaki, Vice President of the Council of State (CoE) and Professor at Panteion University.
  • Maria Spiliotopoulou, Director of Research at the History Centre of the Academy of Athens.

The event will be coordinated by the Gavrilis Nikiforakis, president of the Trifyllion Foundation of Kytheria.

The publication sheds light on the special role that Kythera played during the liberation struggle and constitutes an important legacy for the historical research of the island.
