The possibility for professional farmers to take out bank microloans of up to €25,000 is extended for one year, until December 2022, without the presentation of proof of up-to-date insurance.
This states legislative provision included in the new multi-bill entitled «Arrangements for the response to the pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the protection of public health and other urgent provisions», submitted by the Ministry of Health to the Parliament.
More specifically, this provision reads as follows:
Article 88
Extension of the deadline for facilitating access to financing for farmers - Amendment of article twenty-third of the Legislative Content Act of 13.4.2020, which was ratified by article 1 of Law No. 4690/2020 The time limit of the twenty-third article of the Legislative Act of 13.4.2020 (A'84) on facilitating access to finance for farmers in their main occupation, ratified by Article 1 of Law No. 4690/2020 (A'104), shall be extended and the twenty-third article shall read as follows:
«Article twenty-third
Facilitating access to finance for farmers in their main occupation By way of derogation from the first subparagraph of Article 27 of Law No. 4611/2019 (A’ 73), the conclusion and renewal of loan, credit and financing contracts from banks and other credit institutions with contracting parties of farmers as their main occupation for an amount up to twenty-five thousand (25,000) euros, as well as the disbursement of the relevant credits, without the presentation of proof of insurance coverage by the financed party, is allowed until 31 December 2022.
