Ο great performer Manolis Lidakis passed away today, Wednesday 26 February, at the age of 64. According to reports, his death was confirmed by his brother.
The beloved singer had been facing health problems lately and, although it seemed that he had overcome them, was found dead in the apartment of his friends in Anissaras Chersonissos, where he was staying after recent surgery.
The musical journey of Manolis Lidakis
Born in Heraklion Crete, Manolis Lidakis began his musical education at an early age, studying guitar, wind instruments and music theory. His first professional appearance was in 1982 in Athens, while through the show “Here's your chance” secured his first recording contract.
His first album “After You” was recorded with George Katsaros and was the beginning of a great career that brought him alongside great artists, such as Yannis Spanos, Dimitra Galani, Stamatis Kraounakis and Arleta.
A milestone in his career was the album “I didn't even ask.” (1990), which included songs that were loved by the audience and highlighted the unique tone of his voice.
The loss of plunges into sorrow the artistic world, but his musical legacy will remain indelible in the hearts of Greeks.
