Kythera.News interviewed the Airport Manager of Kythera State Airport «Alexandros Aristotelous Onassis», Stavros Paizanos. Mr. Paizanos referred to the recent reconnection of the Kythera - Thessaloniki route and said he was optimistic about its sustainability beyond September, which is the time horizon foreseen in the original plan. He speaks of the importance of the Egnatia road junction in supplying the island with visitors from the entire geographical region of Macedonia, since it annihilates the distances, while he estimates that part of these visitors may turn into a hive of internal migrants that Kythera is in such need of.
The Airport Manager also refers to the events for the Jubilee of the airport, which will extend this year's season for the benefit of tourism and is also positioned on the chronic issue of the extension of the runway, which he considers crucial -among other things- to stop the bleeding of Kythera to young people seeking their fortune elsewhere.
