“Against” the government and the military for the work suspensions

Η Pan-Hellenic Federation of Military Associations, In a statement, it declares that it will stand by the military medical personnel who received the decisions from the Ministry of National Defense that place them in work stoppage. He reminds them that they can file a report. In the same announcement, he recalls the “bravo” and “hurrah” cheers they received when the government was unable to cope with the pandemic and rushed to seek help from those whom he is now leaving without a salary.

The announcement:

To all interested colleagues in the Armed Forces’ healthcare facilities.

Dear female colleagues—dear male colleagues.

Yesterday (September 8, 2021), all of you who, for whatever personal reason, had not been vaccinated as of September 1, 2021, were notified of the relevant decisions by the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, by which your duties have been suspended; for as long as this suspension remains in effect, this period will not be counted as active service, and you will not receive pay.

All of you are the very same individuals who, through your physical presence and personal time—beyond your duties as military personnel— far from your loved ones and families for quite some time, gave your very best when those who are now suspending your duties asked you (by order) to step up and assist other government agencies that were unable to address the asymmetric threats that arose.

Weren’t you the ones serving—and continuing to serve—at various hot spots throughout the country when those who suspended your duties ordered you to do so, providing medical, nursing, or administrative support—even though this action was not part of the Armed Forces’ mission—when other agencies were unable to do so? And you did it from the bottom of your hearts. So what did they tell you then?; Above all, you are soldiers and then doctors, nurses, cooks, drivers, technicians, etc.

Weren’t you the ones who cooperated when those who suspended your duties ordered you to do so, even though this action was not part of the Joint Forces’ mission—collecting samples for COVID-19 prevention at every point of entry into the country (airports, seaports, land borders), when other agencies were unable to do so? And you did it from the bottom of your hearts. So what did they tell you then?; Above all, you are soldiers and then doctors, nurses, administrative staff, etc.

Weren’t you the ones who, after being transferred to remote islands on the orders of those who are now suspending your duties, did you examine—and continue to examine—our fellow citizens when other agencies are unable to do so? You did it, you are doing it, and you will continue to do it from the bottom of your hearts. So what did they tell you then?; Above all, you are soldiers and then doctors, nurses, administrative staff, etc.

So what has changed today?; Aren't you in the military today?; Where have all the thousands of “well done” and “bravo” gone? How can your military status be suspended? How will those loudmouths be standing in front of you again tomorrow to tell you “bravo” and “well done”?;

Colleagues.

Yesterday, when the decisions to suspend you from your duties were announced, it confirmed what all of us had been whispering about in our units.

The Panhellenic Federation of Military Associations (POES) declares that it will stand by your side and do everything in its power to support you. The decision, however, is yours. Stand up today for what you will leave as a legacy to future generations, to your families, and to your children. Stand up for the right to life and dignity. No one is left alone.
