6.4 magnitude earthquake in the southern province of Hatay, on the Turkish-Syrian border

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 19.04 (Greece time, 20.04 Turkey time), according to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute, in the southern province of Hatay, one of the areas affected by the devastating earthquakes of 6 February.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Defne, according to the Turkish disaster response agency AFAD. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 14 km southeast of Adakya in Turkey and 70 km north of Latakya in Syria.

The focal depth of the earthquake is 10 km. Eyewitnesses told Reuters that damage to buildings in Adakya was reported and others said the tremor was felt in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.
