Press release issued by the municipal faction “Kythera Antikythera - We live here” on the anonymous complaints against the organisation of mountain biking and cross-country running races «Svelta Cup».
The announcement follows:
«Who can't stand that the Kythira Championship “Svelta”, mountain biking and cross-country running is here to prove that the local community can contribute and achieve a lot for the place?;
Who can't stand that for every kilometre you cycle or run, a corresponding part of the route you take in that village will be maintained, with your contribution. You just give your best!
Who can't stand that the cost of each registration to the games is donated in full to the Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development (KIPA), for the overall maintenance and improvement of the island's network of paths and cycling routes (cleaning, signage repairs, technical points, openings, etc.).
Who can't stand the promotion of team spirit and competition, as well as contact with the nature and culture of our island;
All of the above are described in the official announcement of the Kythera Mountain Biking and Cross Country Running Championships. Someone couldn't stand the idea of Tsirigotes getting together and “fighting” for a better tomorrow. His mind couldn't take it. He wanted to stop it. The person who hid behind a couple of anonymous complaints has a full name. The one who twice sought the cancellation of this joyful celebration, deserves the mockery of all of us and those who supported it, the congratulations of the whole island !
