A 17-year-old sophomore at the Oropos Vocational High School is accused of shooting his 36-year-old teacher with an air gun yesterday, Friday, May 26, during recess.
Specifically, according to information provided to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) by sources within the Hellenic Police, the defendant had just met his teacher in the schoolyard, during the first break, he suddenly pulled out an air pistol and shot him in the left leg.
The teacher, who sustained minor injuries, then went on his own to the Oropos Police Station and reported the incident; the 17-year-old was arrested immediately afterward. His parents, both 51 years old, were also arrested for neglecting their duty to supervise a minor.
The student is being brought before the prosecutor today on charges of illegal possession of a weapon and causing serious bodily injury.
