Her nine dancers Lias Rodriguez They engage with humanity’s archetypal needs in a highly precise choreography where contemporary dance meets Brazilian tradition. Lia Rodrigues—who got her start with Maguy Marén’s company—has been living in Brazil for years, and has founded a dance school for young dancers in Rio de Janeiro’s largest favela. Her «combative» works straddle the boundaries between performance, visual arts, and dance, in a theatrical language that carries the dynamism and urgent expression of a true manifesto.
