A unique journey into the microscopic world that surrounds us awaits visitors of all ages in Kythira, the Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Conference Center on Fratsion Square.
The experiential workshop titled «I see animals differently!» invites children and their families to get an up-close look at details of the animal world that are hard to see with the naked eye.
With the help of microscopes and stereoscopes, participants will have the opportunity to observe a bee’s eyes, beetle antennae, a cicada’s mouthparts, a scorpion’s stinger, and other fascinating features of small animals.
At the same time, they will explore microscopic aquatic organisms, learning how to identify them and gain an understanding of an entire world that exists right beside us but usually remains invisible.
At the end of the workshop, the children will be asked to use their imagination and create their own imaginary animal, to give it a scientific name and to imagine the world in which it lives.
The biologist is participating in the initiative Dr. Iasmi Stathi, from the Natural History Museum of Crete – University of Crete.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with free admission.
The event is organized under the auspices of the Kythira Nautical and Athletic Club (NAOK), in cooperation with the Natural History Museum of Crete and the University of Crete.
The organizers would like to thank the Fratsia Beautification and Cultural Association «Ta Fratsia» for providing the venue.
