From the country's pharmacies, citizens will now be able to obtain the double self test which detect both coronavirus and influenza.
These tests identify whether you have Covid-19, or type A or type B influenza, with the Michael Zannetto, treasurer of the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki, explain how they work.
«It's as easy as the test we've done so far for covid. It doesn't fundamentally change anything. It has two clues. It's a test to clarify which is not done in pharmacies,» he told ERT to add:
«It can simply be purchased by any citizen and done at home. It is important to do it. It is important in the sense that these are two serious viruses and the virus that causes covid and the flu virus are two important ones that can cause health problems, especially for vulnerable groups, so it is important to know in time if one has these two viruses.
People still don't know. They're not asking for it. Now we are slowly expecting that they will start to know about this test and some people may ask for it. The flu is still at low levels. Certainly it is at high levels compared to other years. This summer alone we had almost five times as many cases of flu as in previous years, but it's still low. We expect a spike in the coming period.
