The National Public Health Organization (EODY) announced today 638 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), 4 of which were detected during screenings at the country’s entry points.
The total number of cases stands at 164,575, of which 51.9% are men. Contact tracing revealed that 6,045 (3.7%) are considered to be related to travel from abroad, and 52,595 (61%) are linked to a previously known case.
There are 276 intubated patients. Their median age is 70 years. Of those on ventilators, 198 (71.71%) are men. 85.91% of those on ventilators have underlying medical conditions or are 70 years of age or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,169 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
Finally, we have 25 new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 5,997, of which 3,525 (58.8%) were men. The median age of our fellow citizens who died was 79 years, and 95.6% had an underlying medical condition and/or were 70 years of age or older.
