The number of new laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19-19, recorded in the last 24 hours by the Hellenic Public Health Organization (EODY), number 3,475, of which 15 were identified following screenings at the country’s entry points. The total number of cases stands at 524,871 (daily change +0.7%), of which 51.2% are men. Based on confirmed cases over the past 7 days, 128 are considered travel-related, and 2,564 are linked to a previously known case. The Rt for the country, based on the cases, is estimated at 1.09.
The number of patients currently hospitalized and on ventilators is 226 (59.7% men). Their median age is 65 years. 85.4% have an underlying medical condition and/or are 70 years of age or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,854 patients have been discharged from ICUs. Admissions of new COVID-19 patients to hospitals nationwide total 246 (daily change: +16.59%). The seven-day average of admissions is 212 patients. The median age of confirmed cases is 40 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
There have been 19 new deaths among Covid-19 patients, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 13,138. 95.2% had an underlying medical condition and/or was 70 years of age or older.
Samples Tested: From January 1, 2020, to the present, in laboratories that conduct tests for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and that systematically report the total number of samples they test, a total of 5.943,256 clinical samples have been tested, while 7,792,616 samples have been tested by EODY Health Units and Teams conducting Rapid Ag tests. The seven-day average is 88,970 tests.
Self-tests: As of August 10, 2021, 31,357,757 self-test result reports have been recorded electronically. Of the 941,447 people who came in for a follow-up test, 73,465 positive results have been recorded.
EODY Mass Testing: On August 10, 2021, 141 testing operations were carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) of EODY, during which 25,619 Rapid Ag tests were administered and 709 positive cases were identified (2.77%).
