Coronavirus: 3,015 cases, 831 intubated, 86 deaths

There have been 3,015 new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours, 14 of which were identified following screenings at Greece’s entry points.

The total number of cases stands at 323,639 (daily change +0.9%), of which 51.3% are men. Based on confirmed cases from the last 7 days, 61 are considered to be related to travel from abroad, and 2,833 are linked to a previously known case. The Rt for the country is estimated at 0.96 (95% CI: 0.31–1.51).

The number of patients currently hospitalized and on ventilators is 831 (62.1% men). Their median age is 68 years. 85.7% have an underlying medical condition and/or are 70 years of age or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,976 patients have been discharged from ICUs. Admissions of new COVID-19 patients to hospitals nationwide total 556 (daily change: +36.95%). The seven-day average of admissions is 501 patients. The median age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

There were 86 new deaths among Covid-19 patients, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 9,713. 95.51% of the deceased had an underlying medical condition and/or were 70 years of age or older. The median age of the deceased is 79 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

Samples that have been tested:

From January 1, 2020, to the present, laboratories conducting tests for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and systematically reporting the total number of samples they test have tested a total of 4.513,075 clinical samples have been tested, while 3,116,332 samples have been tested by EODY Health Units and Teams conducting Rapid Ag tests. The seven-day average is 54,308 tests.

EODY Mass Testing: On April 20, 2021, 120 testing operations were carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) of EODY, during which 15,613 Rapid Ag tests were administered and 292 positive cases were identified (1.87%).

Self-tests: As of Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 834,819 electronic self-test result reports have been recorded. Of the 9,753 people who came in for retesting as of April 21, 2021, 1,753 positive results have been recorded.
