With sincerity, respect, and love for the residents of the Attica islands, and with the goal of implementing important projects and initiatives to improve their lives, the John Voutsinas, is running for election to the Regional Council as part of the slate «Attica Forward» by Nikos Hardalias.
As he himself points out, the messages he has received during the campaign for the local elections are optimistic, with the islanders of Attica embracing the proposals in Nikos Hardalias’s platform, as they are both innovative and feasible, aimed at improving their daily lives and offering them a better tomorrow.
During his visits to all the islands, Salamina, Aegina, Agistri, Poros, Troizinia, Methana, Hydra, Spetses, Kythira, and Antikythira, Yannis Voutsinas had the opportunity to meet and talk, in depth, with all the mayoral candidates, representatives of business and civil society organizations, and the islanders.
He listened to the issues that concern them, their positions and views, and for his part, he thoroughly analyzed Nikos Hardalias’s platform and also referred to his personal commitments to actively support and implement the «Attica Forward» coalition’s“Attica Forward,” which includes initiatives for all residents of Attica, without exception.
He highlighted the unique characteristics of the islands and, more generally, of remote and sparsely populated areas, emphasizing that κNo citizen can or should feel neglected, especially if they live in island and remote areas of our country. Because Support for "Little Greece" strengthens "Greater Greece". The more these small towns lose their population and remain underutilized, the poorer urban centers become. Small towns must be supported decisively and effectively.
As the John Voutsinas:
«Strengthening the islands and other coastal areas of Attica is a major challenge that we must overcome.
It is a challenge for me, as a candidate for Regional Councilor with the coalition «Attica Ahead» by Nikos Hardalias, to work at the next regional council meeting on the jewel, the crowning glory of Attica—its islands.
The islands and the more remote and sparsely populated areas of our Region in general should gain a new dynamic that will boost entrepreneurship and promote social cohesion.
With the aim of balanced socio-economic development in the islands of Attica, I commit myself to act decisively and effectively and to do not what I can, but what I must.
The Regional Unit of the Attica Islands is a comparative advantage for Attica and a great asset for its inhabitants.
The resources to be tapped, which can achieve growth and ensure economic prosperity for its citizens are:
α) The promotion of local traditional products and the interconnection of the agri-food sector with tourism and catering, so that Attica acquires its branding.
b) The promotion of thematic tourism and the promotion of cultural, historical and archaeological monuments and sites that will act as a pole of attraction, development and extension of the tourist season.
The task is difficult, and it will require a great deal of effort, but we all know that Dreams are made of hard work!!!
Highlights from the main pillars of our program – Attica Forward
The key pillars of a programmatic framework of positions and principles for the Regional Unit of the Attica Islands, based on the programmatic positions of our Coalition—upon which our efforts are grounded—with actions, initiatives, and projects, are as follows:
- Complete all ongoing projects and accelerate the approval process for projects awaiting funding, while simultaneously advancing pending projects
- A network of infrastructure that will provide resources for each island, and for every municipality, so that each can attract investment, capitalize on opportunities, and achieve measurable results for the development of the region and the well-being of its citizens.
- A matrix of initiatives and intangible investments for each island, for each municipality so that workers, self-employed, professionals and entrepreneurs have opportunities for new sustainable jobs and well-paid employment.
- A network of proactive policies aimed at fostering solidarity, providing support, and strengthening vulnerable groups and the disadvantaged in the areas of education, health, and prevention.
- A network of civil protection projects and structures designed to safeguard residents’ lives and property, while strengthening local government and volunteerism.
- A network of initiatives focused on sustainable development, the green and circular economy, solid waste management, and recycling that will foster a new culture among citizens and ensure a sustainable future for our region.
- A matrix of initiatives for digital transformation, innovation for high quality services to citizens and visitors, especially in remote island regions.
- A network of initiatives to support young people and women, with the aim of encouraging them to settle permanently on our islands and addressing demographic decline.
