Today's Gospel, my Christians, which we have heard, is one of the most essential in the Christian life and gives us to understand, if of course we have open eyes of our hearts, how God behaves towards man and how man behaves towards his fellow man.

In the Parable, which Christ told us, a slave owed a huge sum to his master, who of course had no way to repay it and on his knees asked for a little more time. His master not only granted him the time, but took pity on him and gave him the loan. But this was not enough for the servant to make his self-criticism and soften his heart.

So when he met his servant, who owed him a small sum of money, he sent him to prison!

My Christians, we understand by putting our God in the place of our master, how benevolent, merciful and long-suffering he is towards us, because we are always begging him to give us grace and to overlook what we owe him by departing from his commandments: «since we have no debts.».

On the contrary, however, we are often cruel to our fellow human beings: our hearts are filled with our EGO and we do not have room and forgive the other.

In the Church, people learn or must learn to grow their hearts, to free themselves from their ego, to come out of their cage, to give and receive forgiveness and to forget the misdeeds of others.

The spiritual life is not limited to a limited understanding that I must satisfy Christ with formal ordinances and habits of godliness. These are not attitudes to please Christ, they are painkillers for the pain of our heart, which is closed in its cage and thinks only of self.

As we beg Him to forgive our debts, we ought to imitate Him so that we may «Let us forgive our debtors». AMEN.
