WRITTEN DIVINE PROCLAMATION
The passage of today's Holy Gospel is taken from the Sermon on the Mount of Christ. The Lord used to speak in the plains and on the coast, but sometimes He also went up to the hillsides.
This time, He went up on high and recited His Sermon on the Mount to symbolize the height of His divine meanings and the height that man must ascend.
The «As ye would have men do unto you, so do ye to them.» is the ladder for man to climb up and the basis for all mankind to stand upright. Many have said how it is the «golden rule» for the smooth social life of all people, but also the foundation of a proper relationship of the Christian with his fellow man.
If a man desires good things for himself, he must desire the same for others. This is the «golden rule» with eternal validity, formulated with simplicity and based on logic, but sealed with divine authority.
If all men applied the law of the Lord, the «golden rule», the world would look very different. There would be no crimes, no wars, no inequalities, no slander and no slander.
Unfortunately, nowadays, while technologically we have progress, morally and spiritually we have a great decline. This is because we are not applying the law of the Lord. Why? Because God said so. It only takes God to say one thing for the «smart» man to do the opposite out of greed, selfishness and individualism.
Without God all things are permitted. With God, those things are permitted that truly benefit and liberate. Every man is «God's words», this means that man ought to behave properly and with the motive of Christ's love for his fellow man.
The Christian, then, is not only to do good, but also to «reflect» the love of God, like the moon reflects the light of the sun. To exude goodness, like a flower exudes its fragrance. Naturally and effortlessly.
