As planned for the «Parmenion» drill, the siren sounded at City Hall. So what?;
We would really like to know if there is a protocol—a contingency plan for emergencies, such as a flood in a village or an earthquake! The mayor will respond, as he has done for so long, with the magic word «Katsanevakis.» But is there any other plan in place besides the dedicated deputy mayor? And has any such plan been made known to the residents?;
Has there been even one (1) emergency response planning meeting, or does the lack of cement and the direct award of contracts render the issue moot?;
Have these questions ever crossed the minds of the authorities?;
There are now a fair number of people living on the island who know neither Greek nor Mr. Katsanevakis, nor do they visit the mayor’s Facebook page.
What will they do? Where will they gather? How will they move?;
Since times have changed, it is essential that, in addition to the siren activated by a municipal employee as they pass by, a protocol be established that residents—children in schools — residents and staff at the nursing home and the hospital—are aware of, because when the time comes (hopefully it won’t be needed…) we’ll have more to say…
If necessary, we’ll all run—and the leaders will be the first to do so.
