“They’re drafting me into the army. I reported for duty. I spent the first nine days at Ward 414 in the Penteli Psychiatric Hospital, where, as you can imagine, everyone was in my room. At the time, I had told them that I had a serious agoraphobia And what scared me the most was how I would feel about myself with strangers around. ”That’s what I explained to them. They put me there in the hope that I might get a postponement,” he said, among other things.
“Finally, I entered the military camp. They told me I was just fine and that my agoraphobia would go away. I had a hard time in the army because we didn’t have forks, I was behind bars, I had specific visiting hours—it wasn’t the best experience,” he concluded.
“Whenever I look at myself or my parents, I’m a little more emotional these days. I think about how far I’ve come and how, through all these years, I’ve made a name for myself on my own, and it’s moving. I want to say a huge thank you to the people who brought me into this world, and a thank you to God for keeping me this way. We’re a very close-knit family, and it’s incredibly difficult,” he said.
He concluded: “We are a family, and it has never crossed any of our minds—not a single one of us—to act at the expense of others or to harm one another. Never.”.
