A new development in the wiretapping scandal and the Mitsotakis government’s ongoing efforts to cover it up is expected from the European Parliament, according to an exclusive report by EURACTIV.
As reported, the European Parliament’s PEGA Committee is expected to call on the Greek government to protect the independence of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (ADAE) and shed light on the so-called «Greek Watergate.».
Today, Tuesday (Jan. 24), the European Parliament’s committee of inquiry into the use of Pegasus and equivalent surveillance software (PEGA) will submit its draft recommendation to the Commission and the Council.
As for Greece, EURACTIV has been informed that the European Parliament will call on the government to ensure the independence of the authority responsible for privacy protection (ADAE) and, in particular, its chairperson.
