The annual special accountability procedure of the Domestic Property Committee (Article 15 of the Law 272/1985) was held in a mild atmosphere of discussion. The Mayor (chairman of the meeting), P. Megalokonomos and K. Kapsalis were appointed as the chairman, with P. Alexidou as secretary. A quorum was established and the list of those present was read out.
Main points of the statements of the President of the EESC and the Mayor
- Fire 26/7: President Ev. Venardos described damages of ~80.000€ in the Myrtidia engine room (generator, wiring, microphone, painting, etc.). Immediate purchase of a new generator (~27,000€) and equipment replacements (~11,000€ microphone). The President added that he declared «representation in support of the prosecution» and appointed a private expert to investigate causes and claim damages, with reference to the Neapolis (Laconia) case as a precedent.
- Relations with the Church: It was stressed that after the decisions of the Council of State «the ownership belongs to the Municipality, the management to the Domestic, the worship to the Metropolis». It was explicitly stated that the informative marble signs will not be removed.
- Maintenance of the Holy Icon: According to the Mayor of Kythera, the procedures for the maintenance of the Holy Icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa have been approved by the Archaeology Department, which will be carried out on the island, with continuous supervision. «Non-maintenance constitutes a lack of respect», it was said.
- Also the Mayor preannounced lawsuits/lawsuit against the Real Estate Service for the MyCoast, arguing that the protection of the coast shall be the responsibility of the Commission.
