Emanuela Kakavia at the 30th Biennial of Illustration in Bratislava

With illustrations from the books *I Want to Go Home* by Panagiotis Toumpos and *The Seaweed Is Still Singing* by Manos Amblianitis, the talented illustrator participated in the most important international children’s book event, showcasing the power of imagery and Greek creativity on the global illustration scene.

The 30th edition of the International Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (BIB) is a major event in the field of children’s and young adult book illustration worldwide. The event is held under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). 

Illustrator Emmanuela Kakavia is participating this year with works from two books—her illustrations for the books «I Want to Go Home» by P. Toubou and «The Seaweed Still Sings» by M. Amblianitis.

BIB 2025 is organized by BIBIANA – International House of Art for Children, which is based in Bratislava, Slovakia:

  • Dates: October 4, 2025, through January 11, 2026, at the Slovak National Gallery. 

  • Program: The exhibitions are held in various venues throughout Bratislava and feature original children’s book illustrations. 

  • Note: The exhibition will run through January 2026, providing ample time for viewing and participation.

Emmanuela Kakavia has completed workshops on Byzantine art, has been a member of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) since 2018, and has been honored with the A’ Design Award in the Graphics & Visual Communication category for a children’s book.
