The head of the municipal faction “We live here” made a statement via Facebook in support of the Potamos Cultural Association and the agricultural cooperative of Potamos. The statement follows:
«Unfortunately, the mayor has a habit of not opening a healthy dialogue with the community. He knows that most of the citizens have the goodwill and the right to participate and to co-decide about their place, their daily life, the rules of public life. But the pandemic is a deterrent for them, since on the one hand they are «imprisoned» by measures, and on the other hand they are running to save their jobs and their families from economic collapse.
I feel vindicated by these developments as the debate on the Bazaar is finally opening up to society. Both the cultural association of Potamos and the agricultural cooperative of Potamos have the right to know and co-decide the future of their village. Potamos and its people must demand not only a «decent bazaar», but also projects that will bring the commercial, social and cultural life of the village out of the doldrums.
Lawyers and lawyers do not exist only to be invoked by the authorities. They are also there for the citizens who need to know and defend their interests. So they all have the right to ask for time, to consult lawyers, and then we all have the right to sit down together at the dialogue table. United, informed and effective.
I therefore congratulate the «living cells» of the River, our institutions and I embrace them with my confidence. The River has a history, the River has a future. And this belongs to its inhabitants and all Tsirigoians».
