The Mayor of Kythera Efstratios Harchalakis, informed of the news of the death of the former shipping minister Nektarios Santoriniou, made the following announcement:
«The loss of Nektarios Santoriniou, at the age of just 50, has filled us with immense sadness. I had the good fortune to work with him when he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to have had the privilege of working with him as Deputy Minister of Shipping, a position he honoured and endowed with substantial work on all the islands. All island Mayors knew that Nektarios was on our side in every request. Such people who adorn the benches of the Parliament with their ethics and work, let them be an example for all of us.
