Collective Action on Energy: How to Join the Mass Movement Against Profit-Driven Providers

The Consumer Institute is taking action against providers who exploit the price adjustment clause - Procedure and requirements for joining.

The the phenomenon of exorbitant charges imposed by electricity providers by exploiting the terms of the adjustment clause, led INKA in the preparation and implementation of Class Action, so that consumers have at their disposal a unified and properly structured legal tool to defend their rights.

The process through which someone can join the Collective Energy Action is described in detail in the Related blog post by the Consumer Institute, https://syllogiki-inka.gr.

It describes The three steps in detail the steps the consumer must follow, the eligibility requirements, the relevant documents, and a number of other details.

This process can be summarized in the following simple steps:

Step 1: Sign up to become a member of INKA
You can register as an INKA member by filling out the Application for Enrollment in INKA.

Please note: Your registration and participation in the Class Action under Law 2251/1994 are possible only if you are members in good standing. This means that to register with INKA, you will need to pay a one-time fee of 20 euros, and to participate in each phase of the legal proceedings, you will need to pay an additional amount for each level of jurisdiction—that is, for filing a lawsuit in the Court of First Instance, for bringing the case before the Court of Appeals, and finally, for the cassation proceedings before the Supreme Court, the amount of 50 euros per participant and per level of jurisdiction.

Payment can be made by deposit to the following bank accounts:

(a) EUROBANK (IBAN GR9002600980000940201074408) and

(b) PIRAEUS BANK (IBAN GR6001710030006003010119163).

Soon, it will be possible to register online, grant authorization to attorneys, and make payments using a debit, credit, or prepaid card through this website.

Step Two: Gather the necessary documents
Once you have registered as a member of INKA, you will need the following to participate in the Program:

A copy of the contract you signed with your provider.
Copies of the settlement statements for January, February, and March 2021.
Copies of the settlement statements for January, February, and March 2022.
One written authorization for the attorneys who are responsible for drafting, filing, and litigating the lawsuit.

Step 3: Send the documents
After you print and fill out all the required documents and provide your details in full, please send us scanned copies (or clear photos taken with your cell phone) to the following email address: eggrafi.inka.gr@gmail.com

If you have multiple service plans with different providers, you will need to resubmit all of the above documents for each additional provider.
