The representative of the organization «Silent Turkey,» which caused a stir in recent days with the bright sign «STOP Erdogan» in Times Square in Manhattan, spoke on OPEN's main news program.
Hafza Jirdab denounces human rights violations in Turkey and reveals that today, in 40 different locations across the United States, there will be new initiatives launched by her organization. «With all my energy and strength and with all my heart, what I want to say is that there is only the system and decline. The people must learn what is happening and rally together in unity, guided by solidarity. They must resist this operation,« she stressed.
The sign erected in the center of New York City with the inscription «STOP Erdogan» provoked Ankara's anger. «There has been a major violation of human rights against thousands of people, with torture, arbitrary detentions, and confiscation of property. Another reason is the operations carried out outside Turkey by the Turkish secret services, the well-known MIT, which capture dissidents. Our organization has been under intense pressure from the Turkish-American Association, whose vice president is Erdogan's cousin,» he said, among other things.
Yesterday, members of the organization «Advocates of Silenced Turkey« raised their voices against Erdogan in 40 different cities across the United States with demonstrations. In the second part of her interview with OPEN, leader Hafza Jirdab refers in shocking detail to the women who have been sent to prison by the Ankara regime.
«One of the most alarming actions taken by the Turkish authorities is the imprisonment of women who are expecting a child or have just given birth. Some have been imprisoned with their children, while others have been forcibly separated from their children,» said H. Jirdab, among others.
He also stressed that: «The Turkish people are the only ones who can put an end to authoritarianism. I am concerned about the situation in Turkey. What we want is to wake people up to the impression that the existing system wants to impose on them. The Turkish people, united and in solidarity, must take action in a democratic manner and not give more power to this government. I know that there are many in Turkey who are unaware of what is happening.».
