The «disorganized» Greek government, at both the local and central levels, is unable to provide water to the Kythira State Airport. Private citizens, however, can—and they have done so. The Cerigo Hoteliers Association, Lourantos Bros. LLC, in coordination with Yiannis Katsanevakis and the airport management, secured a water dispenser and bottles of water to serve travelers and visitors to the airport. Read below the Association’s announcement as well as the message from Airport Director Mr. Michalakis.
Cerigo Association
In direct response to the need to resolve long-standing problems that undermine and discredit our island, our Association, as a directly affected organization representing those in the tourism industry on Kythira, has decided to participate in the procurement, installation, and seamless operation of «a chiller» in collaboration with the Lourantos Brothers. Thus, given the ongoing inaction of the ‘authorities’—even regarding the lack of drinking water at Kythira Airport— we are now compelled to take the necessary immediate action to address both temporary and long-standing problems, in response to the urgent need and the calls not only from our members but also, more broadly, from the residents of Kythira.
The Association's Board of Directors
Mr. Michalakis's message:
We would also like to take this opportunity through KYTHERA NEWS to publicly express our gratitude for the personal efforts of Deputy Mayor Ioannis Katsanevakis, who went above and beyond,
in order to provide at least a temporary solution to the problem of supplying drinking water to passengers and visitors at the airport, as well as a big THANK YOU
To the Kythira Tourist Accommodations Association for providing cases of bottled drinking water with a cooler—a gesture that will finally improve the experience of visitors and passengers
With appreciation and thanks to the above
The Airport Manager
Etc.
G. Michalakis
