A Scientific Working Group was formed by Ministry of Rural Development and Food, which will report to the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Simo Kedikoglou.
The task of the Scientific Working Group, as stated in the relevant decision, is:
a) The recommendation of necessary measures for the protection and promotion of the special characteristics of Greek honey based on the use of research data.
b) Promoting the quality of Greek honey and establishing a Greek label for honey.
c) The protection and preservation of domestic bee genetic material.
d) Updating the characteristics of the eight (8) pure honey categories and completing the categories for identifying types of Greek honey. e) Protecting, promoting, and establishing the identity of other Greek beehive products.
f) Recommendations for the management and protection of bee flora – Bee Parks.
g) Problems of adulteration and illegal Greek labeling of honey – Honey Balance.
