More specifically:
Subproject 1 «Maintenance, promotion, restoration and reuse of the “Vitzamaneion School” and adjacent municipal properties (Police Station) in Chora Kythera», concerns the use of the complex of municipal buildings as cultural spaces:
- The two-storey municipal building (Police Station) will function as a Cultural Events Centre, hosting permanent or temporary exhibitions, conferences for a small number of people, etc.
- The building of the Vitzamaneion School will function as a «multi-purpose hall» or «multi-purpose hall» which can also house the existing Folklore Collection of Kythera, owned by the teacher Dimitris Lourantos.
Subproject 2 «Maintenance, promotion, restoration and reuse of municipal properties of Mitata village (Old Board, Community Office and surrounding area)», concerns the use of the municipal buildings in Mitata as follows:
- The building of the Primary School will be converted into a modern Cinema Club (using the currently «bazaar» existing basement).
- The Community Store will be renovated and will operate as a municipal building «general purpose» for the needs of the Municipality of Kythera in cultural matters and the support of cultural events.
- An open outdoor «theatre» with 80 seats and bleachers is created at the lower level of the plot and the surrounding area is formed.
All 4 buildings will be equipped with modern electromechanical infrastructure, a complete air conditioning system, new sanitary facilities, while the entire facilities will be fully accessible to people with disabilities.
The studies for the two projects (which are Retrieved from and have all the legal permits) were prepared in an extremely short period of time by the Network of Municipalities of the Attica Municipalities of the Attica Islands through a Programme Contract with the Municipality of Kythera under Law 4674/2020 and with funding (of the studies) from the Philodemus Programme.
The Municipality of Kythera, thanks to the assertive framework of the Municipal Authority, continues to attract very important funding for development projects and actions and will continue to do so in the future.
