The loom and the shuttle in traditional Tsirigotian weaving

From Eleni Charou's blog.

Two essential tools of traditional weaving were the spinning wheel and the distaff. The spinning wheel was a wooden tool on which the yarn was stretched out to be wound into a ball or skein. The spinning wheel rotated, unraveling the yarn. The spindle is also a wooden tool consisting of a wheel that rotates with a handle. The thread is unwound from the spinning wheel and wound onto the spindle.
