In an intervention with many questions to the Municipal Authority and not only made at noon on Thursday the candidate Mayor of Kythera Anargyros Sophios, which focuses on the sewerage project of the southern part of Kythera. Read on:
«Before our group takes a comprehensive position on the controversial sewerage project in the southern part of Kythera, we call on the Municipal Authority for a voluntary public response to the following questions:
Given the weakness of the Department of Technical Support of Island Municipalities of the Region of Attica, who, when, with what procedure, contract and fee did the hydraulic studies?;
Do the 3 deputy mayors and the opposition factions consider the cost of 17.5 million Euros of the Network Study Budget to be justified, given that per connection it ranges from 4 times to 10 times the cost of other proposals approved in the Recovery Fund?;
Why is the alternative of decentralized treatment systems not only not selected but not even examined and concealed in the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) signed by the Mayor and prepared by the Athens-based consultancy ENCON?;
What were the participatory procedures followed so that the citizens of Kythera could be informed and express their views?;
Why during 2 terms of office did the municipal authority prioritize the maturation of this particular project and not the construction of WWTPs in other parts of the island (given that many of the projects included in the Recovery Fund are new WWTPs)?»
