«ALL TOGETHER, KYTHERA - ANTI-KYTHERA»
We will not engage in a prolonged debate over self-evident issues with a candidate for city council. We simply note that Ms. Fatsa is confusing her candidacy with the responsibility entrusted to her by the state to teach our children. The institutionally significant position of high school principal is one thing; the position of a candidate for city council, who is entitled to defend even the non-existent work of the outgoing mayor, is quite another.
It is now clear that Mr. Charchalakis’s authoritarianism and nepotism have influenced other candidates in his faction, who are behaving as «owners» in their institutional capacity and not as public officials. All citizens have the right to speak and express their opinions, but it is a different matter to use that position to promote one’s candidacy… It would be a good idea for Ms. Fatsa to revisit the separation of powers (as taught in middle school through the writings of Montesquieu)…
Finally, we must thank her for «allowed» to attend a public event (such as the blessing of the waters) in a public space! Next time, we’ll ask for permission from the «rightful owners» of the high school—and of our lives…
We would like to make it clear that we will not respond, even if provoked by Ms. Fatsa. The people of Kythira and Antikythira have reached their own conclusions.
