It does not rule out the possibility of extending the compulsory vaccination and beyond the age group of 60 and over, the Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiades.
Georgiades clarified, speaking to «AMERESIA talks», that this is primarily a matter for the Committee of Experts and that if it recommends it, «we are here».
The Development Minister said that the compulsory measure is a success, given that the rate of vaccination appointments has shot up in recent days, which, if continued, «will have a good result».
There are firings of unvaccinated people
Georgiades admitted that there are dismissals of unvaccinated people from businesses but the government has not shown the political will to enact a special law that would impose the dismissal of those who refuse vaccination.
«Obviously, there are companies that have made redundancies, with workers taking the matter to court. What the courts will say, I don't know,» Georgiades concluded.
