10 facts you may not have known about the 17 Threads

Maria Soilemezoglou, in another episode of The Weird Fact Show, takes us to the series “17 Threads”, a production based on the first historically recorded mass murder in Greece. He talks about the work of director Sotiris Tsafoulias and stresses the artistic and historical significance of the series.

The idea of the series was born from the writer Mirella Papakonomou, who was inspired by the book “17 Threads” by the author Panos Dimakis. Maria explains how the story came to life through its adaptation into a script and the collaboration with Sotiris Tsafoulias.

Although Tsafoulias was not a fan of period series, he decided to take on the project. Maria highlights his professionalism and creative approach, as well as his connection to the social issues the series explores.

The actor Panos Vlachos, who plays Antonis Castellanis, spent 10 months preparing for his role. He lost 10 kilos of muscle mass, learned horseback riding and lyre, and participated in a cobbler's workshop to realistically portray the character.

Maria considers the series as a model of quality Greek production, emphasizing the high aesthetics in clothes, sets and lighting. She concludes with an encouragement for more professional works like “17 Threads”, while inviting the audience to share their own impressions.
