Vasilis Karras, the king of folk music, has died

King Karras had collaborated with composers and songwriters, such as Dimitris Rakitzis, Phoebus, Giorgos Theofanous, Alekos Chrysovergis and Spyros Yatras, Evi Drooutsa, Panos Falaras, Christos Dantis, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Elias Filippou, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Christos Nikolopoulos and many others.

He has done duets with many singers such as Marianthi Kefala, Pyx Lax, Konstantina, Angela Demetriou, Tolis Voskopoulos, Nikos Zoidakis, Katie Garbi, Despina Vandi, Ellie Kokkinou, Irini Mercouri, Paola, Pantelis Pantelidis and George Kakosaio.

He has collaborated with most of them in live programmes.

He was also a composer and lyricist and has written songs for many Greek singers - a quality of his that many did not know.

In 1980 he released his first album entitled «Shacks and palaces», who was very popular with the people who loved him and still have fun with his songs.

Afterwards, the albums and songs of Vassilis Karras became gold and platinum and within a few years he managed to become the most popular artist in the world. number one folk singer of Greece. And this is no coincidence since Vassilis Karras was talented from a young age.

Some of the gold and platinum albums of Vassilis Karras bear the titles «Exclusively for you», «Say what you want», «Why should we part», «Don't get lost», «How dare you», «Call me», «Come back» and «You've made me a bum».

Vassilis Karras' biggest hit is the song «You've made me a bum», which sold over 180,000 copies and was visibly loved by the world.

But there are also equally melodic and cheerful songs of the popular artist such as «Who cursed me», «Phenomenon», «Let her say».

Years in the greek discography Karras was one of the pioneers of the new popular wave that came in the 80s and lasted throughout the 90s, with huge hits and dozens of songs that have become classics.

Radio and its people owe him a lot as he gave all of us songs stations on the Greek pentagram.

We will always remember him as the popular singer who eased our pain in difficult times and gave colour to our entertainment.
