«All together»: «No to «games» with wind turbines at the expense of our islands
Carelessness in this matter is criminal
Because the last few days have been expressed in a frivolous and inexpensive way «friendly» views on the intention of 4 large companies to build pharaonic wind turbine installations, without first taking into account the economic, developmental and environmental data, our party notes the following:
- 135 of our fellow citizens collected 34,189 euros supporting the legal struggles against the destruction of the Kythera Landscape and the local economy of the island (construction, holiday homes, tourism, trade).
- Of these 78 foreign citizens, mainly Western Europeans who have acquired property in Kythera, investing in the characteristics of the island and the local community, and who have clear knowledge and experience from their home countries of what it means to place giant wind turbines, where this happens, and what strict legislative framework governs their licensing.
- The unanimous decision of the Municipal Council of Kythera (21/2020 ID: Ψ96ΦΩΛΨ-TBM) and the active action of the citizens does not allow any kind of doubt on this issue.
- The citizens of Kythira, and the professionals of the productive sectors of the island know very well their interests, at a time when only in the last decade, in the wider area of North Kythira, at least €50.000.000 have been invested in the construction of holiday homes, hotels and other buildings, money which has been completely dispersed in the local economy.
- Northern Kythera is not a fillet for the appetite of big interests. Nor is Gerakari
by far. And those who have not visited the green lung of our island can do so now. - No one is allowed to play games of hidden or overt agenda against the interests of Kytheria and the people who have chosen to invest in Kythera.
Active members of our party, who have participated decisively so far in the formulation of the green policy plan in Kythera, with the first and important achievement of establishing an Energy Community, are here to safeguard:
a) the protection and the smooth continuation of mild tourist, construction and holiday activity in North Kythera and in general throughout the island.
b) a responsible attitude to the implementation of green growth
c) the establishment that the Kytheraic Land belongs to the Tsirigotes and is reserved for the younger generations.
Our Municipal Party has a full and clear programme which our compatriots can read and understand. On October 8th they will ratify it and on October 9th we ALL TOGETHER start to make it happen.
