One dead in Prodromos of Boeotia due to the fire that has broken out in the area. According to the police it is an elderly shepherd (about 80 years old) who after receiving the message from 112 ran to his shepherd's hut to save the animals, but died.
As it was reported by the Fire Department, a woman called the operations center and reported that the shepherd had left for his pasture immediately after the fire broke out.
Firefighters rushed to the spot where they found the elderly shepherd dead but the fire had not reached the spot. There was however thick smoke. It is suspected that this contributed to his death. The cause of death will be determined by the autopsy.

Firefighters are fighting a great battle with the flames in Prodromos of Boeotia.
«The fire front is too big and now particularly strong winds. We are trying with difficulty to contain it,» says the mayor of Thebes, George Anastasiou, to AP-MPA.
According to the mayor, a settlement near the Saranti area has already been evacuated after the message from 112 and as he notes “at the moment the front is less than 1000 meters from the houses, but the winds are very strong. Four helicopters are operating along with strong ground forces volunteers and local residents along with machinery that has been deployed. It is very difficult as the strong winds do not allow planes to fly.”
It is noted that a few days ago there had been a fire in the area again, which was immediately extinguished by the residents.
