The municipality of Thessaloniki plans to create five dog parks

Five dog parks, which will offer space for daily walks, exercise and relaxation for our four-legged friends, are to be created by the Municipality of Thessaloniki in parts of the city. The project to create a network of dog parks in neighbourhoods is being carried out by the Municipality of Thessaloniki's Directorate of Greenery and Environment Management.

Specifically, with funding from the «Philodemos II» programme, the supply of pet equipment will be carried out, which will be placed in five already designated public areas of the city.

According to the planning of the competent municipal services, two dog parks are to be created in equal places in the Polyclitus Reggio Park, while three additional areas will be created in the Ancient Agora Square, in the park of New Switzerland and in the park in the Gardens of Pasha.

Each dog park will have fencing and double entrance/exit gates. This will be followed by the installation of exercise equipment, which includes exercise beams, learning and jumping tables, a high exercise ramp, a moving balance exercise ramp, agility training columns, exercise ramps and jumping exercise rings. The number and type of equipment varies from park to park, depending on the size of the park. The intervention will be completed with the installation of urban equipment (seating, litter bins, watering troughs, etc.).
