A man from Syros, who was among those rescued from the maritime tragedy that struck Kythira in recent days, was arrested on charges of human trafficking. Reports indicate that the fact that he was the only one among the shipwreck survivors who was originally from Syria (the others are from Afghanistan) aroused the authorities’ suspicion, leading them to eventually place him in handcuffs.
