The Foundation Andy Warhol collaborates with the eBay for Charity for a auction featuring works by the iconic Pop Art artist on the theme of the Christmas holidays.
At the auction «Happy Andy Warholidays», original drawings and other memorabilia from the late artist's estate are available.
The works in the auction evoke his childhood, when he grew up attending Mass regularly with his family, who were devout members of the Eastern Catholic Church. The works depict drawings of angels from the 1950s.
«While Warhol's style may have changed in the 1960s, his generous spirit and love of celebration were always evident in his creation of artwork as gifts for family, friends, and colleagues throughout his career,‘ said Michael Dayton Herman, director of marketing and sales at the Andy Warhol Foundation.
Among the works available on eBay for Charity are Christmas cards, drawings of festive decorations, and posters from the artist's exhibitions.
Proceeds from sales will directly benefit artists in need. The Andy Warhol Foundation donated $2.6 million to artists in early April. It also provided grants to 32 programs in USA with the sole mission of helping artists who are facing financial difficulties.
