The fifth poetry collection by Chrysa Kontogeorgopoulou (Maglini), a recipient of an award from the Academy of Athens, consists of several sub-collections, forming—one might say—a unified whole that nevertheless retains its autonomy, and perhaps a «sequel» to the award-winning collection *Sorrow, a Feather* (24 Grammata Publishers). An ode to ears of wheat, a «sit-o-dia» (a play on the words «sitodeia» and “sitodia”), which essentially addresses human drama. Using a mixed technique (visual poem, poetic prose, metrical and free verse, as well as haiku), the poet “sings with ears of wheat” about the eternal questions of existence: betrayal, disappointment, and hope.
Bio:
Chrysa Kontogeorgopoulou (Maglini) was born in Athens. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the Department of History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In December 2021, she was honored by the Academy of Athens for her poetry collection *Sorrow, a Feather* (Published by 24 Grammata, March 2021), as one of the best collections of the past three years. Her poems have been set to music by Dimitris Papadimitriou for film, and she has also produced translations and scholarly books and publications. Her poems have been published in anthologies as well as in print and online literary journals and have been translated, while her work has been presented in Greece and abroad.
